Those who are struggling, begin your journey here

Isaiah 43:11

I,I am YHVH and there is no savior besides me

This blog is for fellow seekers

This blog isn’t about me. Let me get that out of the way first and foremost. No one cares about what I think.  I am not a pastor a Rabbi or a teacher. I am not a priest or a Prophet. I am not an authority on anything. In fact, when people ask me what religion I believe in, I never know how to answer. It should be simple. But, for me it is not. I sometimes envy those that can just say “I’m an evangelical Christian” or “I’m a Baptist” or “I’m Jewish”. My beliefs don’t fall easily into any of these categories.

Having said all of that I hope you will continue to read because I think I have found something you may find of value. There are ten thousand competing voices out there saying “I have the truth”. I worry about people that think they have the full and total truth. There is a saying “the ignorant are full of confidence while the wise are full doubt”. I think there is a lot of truth in that.

Many years ago a minister friend of mine went off to bible college for a few years. Afterward she returned home and went back to her church and began to preach again. After a sermon where she pointed out some of the shortcomings of her church, a congregant smugly commented “you have changed since you went to school”. Her reply was “if I didn’t change what would have been the point of going”? The point of this story is to point out that if we are to grow and improve we must be ready to change. We have to be ready to accept new things when we learn new facts and we have to be ready to reject old beliefs when we find out that they were wrong. As Will Rogers once said “good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement”.

If you think I’m saying that there isn’t one truth or that truth is relative, that would be incorrect. What I am saying is that what we believe should be tested and if found to be wrong we should be ready to accept that, and change our beliefs accordingly. I am a follower of the God of Abraham, Moses and Israel. The reason is that I have had personal experiences that have confirmed Him to me. Three of them were quite miraculous. So, that was enough to convince me. Anyway, again, this isn’t about me. My experiences are personal.

I came from a mainstream Christian background. I was always curious and loved to read. I also was interested in learning about God and spent a lot of time looking into other religious groups. I did attend a Bible college. Now I’m going to skip the rest of the biography and just jump to the more relevant things. These are things that I humbly submit to you, in hope that you will investigate them for yourself. I do not want you to take my word for anything. But, as one of my professors once told me “don’t let anyone do your thinking for you. Think for yourself”.

As I said earlier it isn’t easy for me to define my faith. I don’t fall into a well defined category as far as I can tell. I believe that YHVH gave Moses the Torah and that the people called Israel were chosen by YHVH to fulfill His plan for mankind. I believe the way to salvation was always open to people of all nations and races. But, that salvation required obedience to YHVH’s law after repentance of one’s wrong doings. But, I cannot call myself a Jew because I feel modern Judaism has abandoned the written Torah and now follows the teachings of Rabbis that are not of Devine origin. I can’t call myself a Christian anymore because I do not believe in the virgin birth. I don’t believe in the trinity. I don’t believe Jesus was God. I don’t believe that if I just believe in his death, burial and resurrection I will be saved. I do believe that he was “The Prophet” which was prophesied was to come in Deuteronomy 18:15-17.

I believe that Jesus was an observant Jew and never claimed to be God. He never abolished the Torah or it’s Law. I believe that Jesus came to reform Judaism away from the traditions of men and return it to the written Torah. I believe the movement that he founded was taken over by people that wanted power. People that for their own purposes merged a lot of pagan mystery religion’s practices and beliefs into the new Jewish reform movement. The main opponent of Jesus’ movement was Saul of Tarsus, later known as Paul. He was not an Apostle, never met Jesus and taught things that Jesus never taught and would have been opposed to.

If any of this interests you feel free to read on. If you just want to argue with me about my findings please don’t bother. I offer this to you to cause you to look into these things for yourself. If you aren’t interested just move on. I don’t have a book to sell. I don’t have a group for you to join. I don’t have a ministry for you to support, I don’t have a newsletter for you to subscribe to and I don’t want you to send me money.

I offer this to you in hope that it will help you in some way and I offer it to you in friendship.
